Ready to truly push the boundaries of your wheel throwing skills and elevate your artistic expression? Our 6-week Intermediate/Advanced Wheel Throwing Course is for seasoned potters eager to tackle complex forms, refine their technique, and develop their unique voice on the wheel.
In this intensive course, you’ll move beyond foundational throwing to master:
- Large Scale Throwing: Confidently creating impressive, larger bowls, platters, and grand vessels.
- Multi-Part Forms: Assembling intricate pieces like lidded jars, teapots, and complex sculptural forms.
- Form Alteration: Learning advanced techniques to alter thrown forms, such as faceting, stretching, and collaring.
- Precision & Efficiency: Cultivating consistent results and significantly increasing your throwing efficiency.
- Advanced Surface Development: Exploring sophisticated decoration methods, including layered slips, carving, and complex glazing strategies.
Through advanced demonstrations, targeted feedback, and dedicated practice, you’ll hone your craftsmanship, troubleshoot complex issues, and define a distinctive personal style. This course is for those ready to transform ambition into mastery.
Prerequisite: Completion of Introduction to Wheel Throwing or equivalent proficiency.

- Closed-toe shoes: For safety in the studio.
- A positive attitude: Be ready to learn and have fun!
Included in the course fee: 24 hours of studio time, a 25 lb bag of clay, a firing allotment for this clay, and access to all necessary studio tools and glazes.
