Introduction to Wheel Throwing Class

Always wanted to experience the magic of the potter’s wheel? Our 6-week Intro Wheel Throwing class is the perfect place to start your creative journey! This comprehensive multi-week course will guide you step-by-step from raw clay to your very own finished pieces.

You’ll discover the fundamental skills needed to bring your ideas to life on the wheel, including:

• Clay Preparation: Mastering the essential technique of wedging to get your clay ready.
• Centering: Learning the foundational skill of bringing clay to the center of the wheel – the key to all successful forms.
• Opening & Pulling Walls: Confidently shaping basic cylindrical forms (like cups and small bowls) and understanding how to create even walls.
• Basic Trimming: Giving your pots a neat, refined base.
• Introduction to Glazing: Understanding how to add color and finish to your creations.

Through hands-on practice, engaging demonstrations, and personalized support from our experienced instructors, you’ll gain confidence and watch as your first pots come to life. By the end of this course, you’ll have a collection of unique, handmade ceramic pieces and a solid foundation for your pottery adventures!
