House of Clay opened its doors on May 31, 2025, after transforming a 3000 sq. ft. space on the north side of downtown Overland Park. This unique location, once a chiropractors office and later a flour mill equipment repair facility, has been beautifully repurposed into a vibrant center for the ceramic arts. Every detail has been carefully designed to create a warm, inclusive, and inspiring environment, making House of Clay a welcoming haven for anyone eager to explore the world of clay.
Our studio is equipped to support every level of artistic endeavor. We proudly feature 13 pottery wheels, two large kilns, a slab roller, and a modern studio automation system, ensuring that artists have access to the best tools for their craft. House of Clay offers a wide range of classes tailored for all skill levels, from introductory workshops for beginners to advanced courses for seasoned potters. For those who prefer independent creative time, we also provide various membership options, offering flexible access to our fully equipped space.
Beyond the active studio, the front of House of Clay features a thoughtfully curated gallery. This inviting space proudly showcases pottery, paintings, and jewelry created by talented local makers, celebrating the rich and vibrant art scene of our area. Looking to the future, House of Clay is excited to expand its community engagement through a variety of special events, including featured artist meet-and-greets, evenings with live music, and relaxing “Pottery & Pinot” nights, fostering connection and shared experiences.
Furthermore, founder Augie Echeandia is committed to community impact and plans to partner with Empty Bowls. This national initiative supports local hunger-relief organizations through the creation and sale of community-made ceramic bowls. Ultimately, our unwavering focus remains on cultivating a thriving, supportive space where individuals can connect, unleash their creativity, and discover profound joy through the timeless art of clay.
