Raku Pottery Event in Kansas City

Join us for a unique Raku pottery event in Kansas City at House of Clay. In this one-day pottery workshop, you’ll glaze your own handmade vase or bowl and watch it transform in a live Raku firing. It’s a fun, creative experience for anyone looking for a unique pottery class, date night idea, or thing to do near Overland Park and Kansas City.

Raku is known for its smoky surfaces, metallic flashes, crackled patterns, and one-of-a-kind results. No two pieces come out exactly alike, which is part of what makes the process so memorable.

This event is a fun way to try something different, whether you already love pottery or just want a creative experience with a little fire and drama built in.

You’ll start by choosing your piece and applying glaze in the studio. Once your pottery is ready, we’ll fire it using the Raku process, where heat, flame, and reduction create the distinctive surface effects Raku is known for. Because of the nature of this firing, every piece will be unique.
